This episode features a clip from Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on the subject of the annual tradition of Fox News’ hilarious “War On Christmas” nonsense.
This episode was guest-hosted (for the second time!) by the incomparable Neil Hohmann of Ritmo Latino fame. Honestly, I can't say I'd have chosen many of these songs, but that's the whole point of a guest-hosted episode, right?! I hadn't come up with much in the way of good Christmas music this year, so for the annual Xmas music episode I asked if Neil would be willing to fill in. He did so in record time, no doubt a testament to his podcasting professionalism!
This episode features a clip from HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher where he and Dan Savage discuss the empathy gap that is constantly found in the GOP. It goes like this: as soon as it happens to you or someone in your family, you suddenly stop being a hardliner on that particular plank of the Republican platform.
This episode features a clip from Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart about serial-plagerist Tea Party darling Rand Paul. Watch the whole unedited segment here.
This episode was created by my friend Lane Diko, and features clips of things from many sources, including "I Put A Spell On You" by Nina Simone from Bad Habits, "Diner" by Angelo Badalamenti from the Mulholland Drive soundtrack, Screamin' Jay Hawkins talking to some Japanese girl about ghosts, "Release the Bats" by The Birthday Party, Taxi Driver, The Shining, "Revolution 9" by The Beatles, "Rock and Roll Sermon" by Elder Charles Beck, from Fire In My Bones, and so on.
This episode features a clip from Al Pitcher's stand-up routine from the Raw Comedy Club discussing his inability to learn to speak Swedish despite living in Stockholm and wanting to learn. The music I talked over this episode was "Le Bateleur" by Max Von Sydow, "Cuban Lips" by Yttling Jazz, and "Clean Gloves, Dirty Hands" by Smile, all from the album Ingrid Volym 1 (iTunes, Amazon).
